Registering with Ngāti Apakura is your opportunity to connect with our iwi. By registering, you also gain a voice in important decisions that shape our future, helping to develop and grow our tribal base, and our whānau, hapū and iwi for generations to come.

Who can register with Ngāti Apakura?

To become a registered member of Ngāti Apakura, you’ll need to meet our registration criteria.

By registering, you help us stay connected as whānau. It means we can share important updates, keep you informed about kaupapa and events, and provide opportunities for you to be involved — whether you’re based at home or living overseas.

Age Requirement

You must be 18 years or older to complete your own registration.

Proof of Identity

A copy of your birth certificate is required as proof of identity and whakapapa.

Whakapapa Information

Your application must include whakapapa details that clearly show your connection to Ngāti Apakura.

All applications are reviewed by the Ngāti Apakura Whakapapa Committee to confirm eligibility.
Please note: incomplete or unclear whakapapa details may cause delays.

Application Process

Registration can be completed using either a printable or online form provided by Ngāti Apakura representatives or the Trust.

Once approved, you will receive confirmation of your registration and, if applicable, a unique iwi registration number.

Personal Information Required

The following information is typically requested:

Full legal name, date of birth, physical and/or postal address, email address, phone number, whakapapa details linking you to Ngāti Apakura, spouse’s name (optional), names and ages of tamariki or dependents under 18 (if applicable)
